I really love making my Christmas card every year, and even more, I love having my mailbox flooded with holiday greetings. It really is one of my favorite things about the holiday season. I love seeing my friend’s children grow, and what everyone is…  Ever since he saw the first decorations for Christmas, back in October, my 5 year old has been asking, ‘How many days until Christmas?’ Now, with Thanksgiving over, and the Christmas push in full gear he is asking even more often. Time is such a hard concept to explain to a child that is wrapped…  We always seem to remember [or are at least reminded] to be extra grateful around the Thanksgiving holiday. But I want to encourage you to continue your gratitude focus well beyond the holiday season. The other day, I hopped on this blog via my google reader — A Beautiful Ripple Effect. And there, I discovered… I am not a formal diner. I love casual, cozy meals and the energy that surrounds them. I love a table with handmade elements and special touches that make it feel like home. Thanksgiving is such a special time of year & the Thanksgiving feast lends itself to the most warm and beautiful decor of…  Thanksgiving. How do appropriately give thanks in a year where your newest baby (the one that rounds out a trio of boys) gets scary sick and then is slowly healed? How do you appropriately do that when you look on with joy while that same newest baby sits and giggles with his brothers? I’m not…  Photo by MSVG In the past couple months, I found my oldest starting to complain more. “I don’t like this dinner.” “I never win the game.” “That place is boring.” So one night after another complaint about dinner, I stopped her in her tracks. I asked her to tell me 3 things she was thankful…  The scene is Sunday, 6 November 2011 at 6:15 AM, which, after the end of Daylight Savings’ Time, feels like a very reasonable 7:15 AM to at least one of the human characters in this scene. To the other, it most assuredly does not as she had stayed up entirely too late the night before…
