The Creative Mama » inspiring art, encouraging women

Author Archives: Hayley

Born and raised in the cornfields of Indiana, Hayley (aka: The Tiny Twig) has very recently moved back to the Hoosier State. She and her husband have two preschool aged little boys, 23 months apart. They are mistaken for twins all the time, which she think adds to the charm of having two crazy boys! She tries to balance living a life of beauty with living a life of adventure, and is slowly realizing the two coincide more often than she thinks. Wanting to bring the profound, the excellent, and the glorious into even the mundane things we do everyday in life, Hayley can be found blogging at The Tiny Twig.

I’ve never been to the MOMA, in fact, I’ve never set foot in New York City.  And, please note, they have a rad online gift shop. I digress.  Although I love and appreciate art (and spent a summer studying art history in Florence, Italy), I do not travel to see art shows, art museums, or […]

spruce up your salad

We all know we should be eating better.  Gone are the days of eating 100-calorie pack Ding-Dongs and thinking we are eating a good diet.  We will live better if we eat better.  I think we instinctively know that, and if we don’t know it instinctively–the media’s blatant messages ought to be getting to us […]

Thanksgiving Recipes

Thanksgiving.  How do appropriately give thanks in a year where your newest baby (the one that rounds out a trio of boys) gets scary sick and then is slowly healed?  How do you appropriately do that when you look on with joy while that same newest baby sits and giggles with his brothers? I’m not […]

DIY Sequined Cross

My grandmother is a creative force.  She taught inner city middle school art for years, and now my boys get to benefit from her magic.  She has collected so many old art and craft supplies over the years.  After she and my grandfather moved recently, I was the proud and lucky recipient of all kinds […]

Two Summer Outfits, One Shirt

I love searching Pinterest for wardrobe inspiration, but what comes next?  Most of the outfits cost more than a vacation, so how do you get the look?  Well, I go to relatively inexpensive online shops for the look for less.  And here, you can get two looks out of just one shirt and some accessories.  […]
