Bedside Reading Baskets

No matter what time I go to bed, I have to read – at least for a little while. I usually have a couple books going on at the same time. Sometimes, I have a little crochet project going on as well. Instead of cluttering up my bedside table or just having a pile on the floor, I keep everything together in this basket.

I, also, stash a couple notebooks and pens in the basket to write down notes, inspiration or the next day’s to-do list.

My daughter has inherited my “need to read” gene and has her own basket.

Do you read before bed? Are you a bedtime note-taker? In-bed knitter? Where do you keep your stuff?

I like the basket idea! I have “for the Childrens sake” and Jane Eyre on my nightstand right now. I’m glad I found your blog! Barefoot Mama, TX

What a great idea! That would be so better than the mile high pile on my bedside table. I will also try to get my sons to do the same. Thanks!

I’m sorry. My first time commenting here, below, and it looks like I blasted your comment area with a huge image instead of putting it where the little images go to the left of the comment. Sorry about that. I’m excited to have discovered your website here (I came from Overcoming Busy, which I just discovered for the very first time as well).

My most creative ideas come at bedtime. I keep a pen and paper in the top drawer of my dresser beside my bed. I like your basket idea—more organized to keep my work and clothes separate…and a small enough basket would tuck neatly under my bed with my bedtime books too. Thanks for the tip.

This is such a good idea!! I usually keep a book and a pen on my nightstand, but I’m totally going to make a basket so I can make lists before I go to sleep. Love it :)

It wouldn’t be my bedside table if it didn’t have books on it! Love the basket idea.

I have the Mission of Motherhood on my bedside table, too. I’m only a chapter or two in, but I’m loving it!

I have a nice pile of books and magazines by my bed along with my Kindle, however, I never have time to read before I’m fast asleep. I need to work on going to bed at a reasonable time, it is the only time all day the house is quiet enough for me to read. :)

LOVE it. totally doing this now. they are all piled up on my bedside table and it looks like a big book avalanche! thanks for this tip :)

“book avalanche!” I love it! That’s kind of what my pile used to look like.

Yay, another bedtime reader – I LOVE to read before bed and feel deprived if I can’t. I have an etagere floor lamp, and I have books on the bottom shelf. (Although I also have a Kindle, which has cut down on clutter.) I love the basket idea for my daughter, who at 18 mo. already shows signs of being a bedtime reader like her mama.

That’s what I need – a Kindle!! I’ll tell my hubby it’s all to keep us uncluttered :)
