While I love creating and writing, one of my true loves is photography. I have had some great questions come my way in regards to simply getting better pictures of your kids, storage of images, etc. I am currently working on something (shhh big secret!)… focusing on just that. Please pass along any questions you might have, big or small. Remember however that this isn’t going to be on becoming a professional, I’d like to keep the focus on how to get better images of your loved ones, as well as tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way.     good morning beautiful! oh! i just can’t wait for your surprise. i went months and months and months and…well, you get the idea, without a camera. i just bit the bullet and spent the money on this basic girl’s camera of her dreams. $219 from sam’s. kodak easyshare. 12x optical zoom. lots of glitz. nicer than any camera i’ve owned. not the professional ones of the amazing photographer blogs i’ve visited, but fabulous enough for me. i so want to use the inspiration i’ve seen here and there and everywhere to take fabulous photos of my kids, family, house, life. hurray! waiting for surprises makes me glum! enjoy your day! are you the one who puts photos on foam board? on my list of projects!!!! such a fabulous idea!

    My little camera just bit the dust and I am looking for a new one. While I would love a big hunkin Canon D40, I am sure my husband would veto that purchase in a heart beat. Can you recommend a lay person camera for under $200? Since I am not a photographer, there is no way i would need that dream camera, but i do enjoy taking pictures of the kids and the outdoors. my last camera was terrible so i am not at all sad to see it go.

    Okay, my question is how to get photo’s that are so natural yet the child isn’t facing away from the camera? I love that your pics are not just “stand here and smile” pictures but they certainly are still pics that I would showcase around my house. How do I get that “I was there” but not “I was there and in their face” look?

    rochelle ~ i am sure that angie will be of much more help, but my two cents worth will be what i’ve learned from my friend who loves photography and takes great pictures. i just bought this just last week:

    my friend recommended at least a 5x optical zoom. she said the 12x zoom is over the top for a beginner and has a lot of bells and whistles that i will probably never use. I’LL SHOW HER! so far i love this camera. i have so much to learn, however!

    it is hard to get those non-posed (is that a word?) pictures! i can’t wait to hear angie’s response cause the only way i know is to not let them know you’re there! which is hard to do!

    I take thousands of photos of my kids. But since I take so many, I print very few. I’m not into scrapbooking… do you have any suggestions for a quick and easy ways to print, frame or create albums for my favorite photos?

    I’d like to know mainly about getting the right angles, and lighting.. I don’t know how to phrase that better. Haha.

    Have you taken any photography classes? Graphic design? And what is the best way to store images? I have an external hard drive which had almost all my photos and it just stopped working…doesn’t turn on:( So just wondering if it’s better to backup online? Making copies on CD would probably ne good!

    I’d like to know what sort of settings (exposure/fstop/shutter speed) work well for taking photos of my children inside, without a tripod you know, for those sort of action-poses that 1 and 3 year olds do so well!

    I would love to take pictures where the background is kind of blurry and the picture is more focused on the main object. In my case that would be my 8 month old sweet baby girl! Can’t wait to see all your tips. I am really looking forward to them!
