I love that Jose has a degree in Fine Art but does not take himself overly serious. His work is stunning and you can tell he has a perfectionists eye but flows as if it is effortless.

I love the fact that he shoots mostly film and is so dang good at it. He also spends minimal amount of time in front of the computer – which is what I wish for me some day!

  • Kristen

Love how he says to go with your own eye and don’t try and imitate others. Awesome advice. Love his work!

I love how he put it so simply: “the camera is just a box with a lens.” Seriously! It makes so much sense! And his images are just lovely-and film, no less!

  • http://www.dilleydally.com Merrilee

I’m amazed that he still shoots film. He inspires me to work on my exposure!

if I read it right, he doesn’t use a digital camera. amazing…what skill. and impressive in this day and age. I had a professional photographer once…she spent most of the time looking at and deleting off photos…very impersonal

    Fantastic!

I love everything about his images but the FUNKY creativity is what captured my eys and mind. He also has a strong sense of design and colors… making his composition gorgeous and his photo treatment is very crispy!

Jose’s work is wonderful! I love the fact that he still uses film!! And medium format! That totally rocks!!

  • http://www.meganwoldphotography.com Megan Wold

I am so inspired by Jose’s honest approach to photography. It takes a true artist to have the confidence in himself and his work to shoot in strictly film. Knowing that there are still professionals, and astonishingly great ones at that, who are shooting with film and making you FEEL the images rather than look at them, inspires me to work harder at my art. I can only hope that one day I will be as good with my Minolta 7000 as I am with my Nixon D700. Thanks Jose!

I absolutely love that he has build an extremely successful business shooting only film, and how he pointed out that photography is a life rather than just a job. Most of all, I really admire his work.

Oh my gosh! What is not to love about Jose’s work!!! Truly an artist. I went straight to his blog to view more images, I couldn’t get enough! Marked as yet another favorite on my fav0rite blog sites. Thanks for introducing us to so many amazing photographers. What a treat! Reading about these photographers these past couple of weeks has reignited a deeper desire to push myself to practice and get better!

  • Rachel Healey

It’s absolutely beautiful- as his client’s say, “organic”..and I love his quote, “We all see the world so different, why not just transfer that onto film, or digital and share your vision with the world…”- he really has passion for his role as a photographer.

  • Rachel Healey

I love that he uses film…and that he really focuses on what he sees and taking the picture- not what type of equipment he has:)

  • erica

I really loved that the pictures seemed to capture such candid, special moments. What a fabulous photographer!!

I love his thought on you not letting the camera tell you what to do..it’s just a box with a lense…so you tell it what to do. I don’t have a twitter account so I guess this is my only entry…everything is crossed!!

The first thing I noticed was the creamy greenish blue water that surrounded the couple in the lake. I thought how beautifully characteristic that was from film. I was excited to hear him talk about film and film cameras. Having shot medium format film cameras myself in weddings, I was amazed at the beauty he captured. The shadows on the bride were exquisite.

I love that he uses film! Beautiful and emotional images.

  • Julie Lautenschlager

I love that he uses film when so many photographers are using digital and that he does not add much to his photos in Photoshop. His pictures are beautiful.

  • Julie Lautenschlager

I like that he inspires you to photograph the world as you see it. Then when you see your images they will feel like your own and not somebody else’s.
