I have been following Joyce’s blog for a while now and she is fabulous! I don’t know if I can pick just one, how about a tie? First of all, I love her style- clean and bright. I also love how well rounded her business is. She shoots, she teaches and she creates resources that are made available for others aspiring. She is definately and inspiration, thanks for the interview!

My favorite part is the section on her early struggles. I found this very inspiring because it is so similar to what I’m currently going through…

I love to hear from “self-taught” photographers. I think their view is so much different than a course/school taught photographer, the difference between technique and style.
I want to win….please let me win something.

her photo style is so different…that is the best way to learn your style and grove is by studying the styles and groves of others. She said she learned a lot from researching that she learned to do in college…I concure with that. I have really learned how to study from on odd source. My formal education is in business…my taught eduacation is photography.
oh yay…pick me, pick me, pick me!

I have followed Joyce for a while. I love her style. What I love most about her is her transparency. She doesn’t seem to have an ounce of pretense, it is refreshing! And the fact that she loves words and dogs, well – that is an automatic in with me!

I absolutely love her comment about how she handles pushy parents. As a parent, and as someone who loves to photograph children, well… I just loved it!

I loved her response to parents trying to get their child to do something they don’t want. “Well, we could force him to sit there but then we wouldn’t really want THAT picture on the wall, right?”

I love that she was raw and open about her knowledge and how she got to where she is today. I find it always helps me to see these photographers that are big and “known” for their work, to really see how they got there and remind me that they strived and worked there way to the top to get where they are today.

I loved Joyce’s advice about imagining your ideal business goals. We’ve been toying with the idea of investing in ads/marketing vs. waiting to build clients through word-of-mouth/facebook. This reminds me to choose our marketing outlets wisely. Thanks for the great post!
