I was in desperate need to a pretty place to put my jewelry. We had moved into a new house, and my husband was finally home after traveling for 3 months. I was overjoyed to have him back, but I was struggling to keep my lady things up off the bathroom counter. I had enjoyed 3 months of girly bliss in my bathroom, but it was time to bring things back to a place both genders could enjoy. So, I purchased some unfinished wood plaques at a hobby store for $.99 a piece and then broke out some of my favorite acrylic craft paint. I’ve been all about neons and grays lately, so naturally I reached for those.
Then, simply grab some “long-ish” nails and pound them in with two at the top and one in the center below. This will help stagger your jewelry so it does not tangle.
Now, you are ready to hang. Grab some handy 3M tape strips or velcro strips. I swear by 3M strips and use them in all sorts of applications in my house. I have never had a damaged wall, and my husband thanks me for finally finding a solution to the 3000 nail holes it used to take to hang a picture.
I would use two strips for this application, especially if your jewelry gets heavy like mine. I have a lot of chunky necklaces and heavy bangles, which would way down a hanger with a single strip.
After you’ve hung your plaques, simply arrange your jewelry as you see fit. I have a million fabric headbands which also needed a home. I will probably make an additional hanger to house my bracelets, so I can keep a little distinction.
