Tsh over at Simplemom is hosting a big ole Spring Cleaning Party. She’s written a fabulous e-book which she markets as “Spring Cleaning for normal people“. I’ll be joining in as best as I can, and at the end of the 2 weeks I’ll share my post-party thoughts!
I’m interested to know, do you have a cleaning routine? A system in place that you follow, how about a non-system that works for you? What is your fave task? How about the chore you loath the most? Looking forward to reading your comments!

I have a chore schedule for each day of the week. For example, today I’ll be mopping the bathroom floors and doing laundry. Tomorrow I’ll be doing more laundry and dusting the house. Of course, I’m doing other things as well, but these are the major chores of the day.
My least favorite is cleaning my laminate floors. They cover a lot of area in my house and it’s a lot of work to clean them. Then by the next day they look like I haven’t cleaned them in a week. Gotta love kids.
My favorite task is the one I just got finished with. :)
I generally do all my major housecleaning on Monday. We have a fairly busy schedule through the week so if I can get everything back in order on Monday, the house tends to stay neater through the week. Plus, we really enjoy the weekends … I am always saying, “Don’t worry about it! I’ll be cleaning on Monday anyway!” So we do yardwork or just enjoy family time or time with friends on the weekends.
Bathrooms. My least favorite is bathrooms. I have a boy … Enough said.
My favorite is vacuuming.
I recently blogged about my cleaning routine, it is a printout. I HATE the bathroom, but I really enjoy tidying up and organizing. I also do not enjoy floors, but I do not mind laundry.
I love cleaning and organizing…crazy huh! My most favorite thing would have to be vacuuming, ’cause with 2 boys the carpet sure does get messy! Also, like making the beds, instantly makes the rooms look tidy. The worst and most awful thing for me would have to be mopping and washing my kids’ and hubby’s socks! But sure do look forward to that spring cleaning and the first thing to go will be the toys the kids have either outgrown or just don’t play with anymore. Sorry kids…love ya;)
I leave you guys with this quote from one of my favorite kids’ movie and I’ll give you all a hint…it’s a Disney movie:) This expresses exactly how I feel;)
“I feel like the maid…i just cleaned up this place…can we keep it clean for…for like 10 mins!”
i have no routine anymore except laundry. it gets done saturday mornings. right now we are spring cleaning persay because we need it to be nice for putting the house on the market this week.
I love organizing, purging, labeling and ordering, but I hate cleaning. I hate doing dishes, folding laundry, cleaning toilets, and scrubbing tile. I love a clean space but I just don’t like the elbow grease that is needed to achieve this. AND, with two toddlers at my heals who want to participate I don’t get to clean as much as I should. I am slowing scheduling in a time each week I do actual cleaning, and I am so lucky to have a wonderful husband who does dishes and laundry. (And doesn’t shrink stuff to boot.)
Thanks for the post!
Abbie
Thanks for sharing everyone! I’ll go next :)
I’m an admitted organizing-junkie. I love it! I love finding new places for things and seeing them happily hanging out there ;) I do *not* like to clean however. Bathrooms are my downfall, but I do enjoy vacuuming! I do try to keep things clutter-free. I’ll do a quick sweep of everything each night so that when we wake in the morning everything feels at peace.
Keep sharing ladies!
My cleaning style is more of squeeze the cleaning in when you can. No real assigned tasks, I just tackle whatever is in the worst shape when I get some spare time.
My least favorite cleaning task would be filing. I’ve been known to go whole years without filing (much to hubby’s dismay). My favorite would be organizing anything! I love organizing things. I guess I’m just weird that way.
I’ve never been the type for charts or lists so I just clean it when I see it needs to be done. I guess I kind of have a natural rotation through the house. I really can’t stand cleaning and my least favorite… my boy’s bathroom! Enter with caution. Love to organize though!
I am a pro at organizing clutter. Putting them in lovely organized piles :) But finding a place to store it? not so good. I have a tendency to get behind then catch up. i can never seem to keep on top of it. but I am slowly learning. I finally just adopted a laundry day instead of doing it when it is needed at random! Angie’s blog helped me on that! it is so wonderful to have a laundry day! :) I guess I will tackle one thing at a time. I am trying to learn to be a creature of habit. With another move coming up hopefully soon, I am kind of forced into getting my life together..hehe.. one chore at a time. :)
I started to spring clean in April with a month of lists and everything! but alas, my teeth interfered and I got off schedule. So it is nice to know that while I make May my spring cleaning month, I wont be alone. ;) so here is to a successful Spring Cleaning Party!
Rebekah, glad you were able to take something from the laundry post! I was just thinking today (as I trudged my way through “Laundry Day”) how glad I am that I’ve implemented it. As much as I despise it, I’m thrilled to get it all over and done with in one day.
Good luck to you on your May Spring Cleaning! :) Hugs!
I read on another site (flylady, hope I’m allowed to put this here) that you do a room a day, 15 minutes at a time (so you have no excuse of I’m only home for 1/2 hour and thats not worth starting). I do washing everyday (so no longer spend all day saturday washing and drying)
Hope this helps
