Photo Fun with Katherine Marie.

by Angie on July 10, 2009

Well it is Friday, and usually our ‘Get Your Creative On’ party is happening – but this week we have a special guest who is going to give us a glimpse into her super-creative mind. She does the most fantastic projects with her photos, I’m absolutely thrilled to have her share today! Please kindly welcome Katherine Marie, mama-blogger-photographer extraordinaire!

Hi there! I’m Katherine Marie. Mama + Photographer.  With four lively and adventurous kids my world is filled with glorious photo taking moments.  I’m up to my ears with pictures!!!  Good photos, bad photos; you name it, I’ve taken a picture of it.  What on earth is a mama to do?

I’m a firm believer that a meaningful photograph should not be tucked away in a dusty album.  Sure, there is a time and place to preserve special images in beautiful place. Heartfelt pictures need to be experienced on a daily basis!!  Living with and creating from meaningful photographs can be incredibly rewarding.

My motto is: Do what makes you happy with your photos!  Create. Enjoy. Experience. Love. HAVE FUN!!! Please don’t let those sweet images sit in a box in your basement.

Here are a couple ways I love to have fun with my photos…

Are you interested in learning even more about what you can do with your photos, perhaps a bit more about the basics of photography? Today’s giveaway comes from two talented women who have joined together to create Pixel Fairy Princess Photography. Among the many things they offer are some fantastic online classes, which include:

  • Photography The Basics of Photographing People
  • Photography Composition and Style
  • Creating Photo Art (open to both Photoshop CS and Photoshop Elements users)
  • Total Lightroom
  • Photoshop CS 3 and 4 Basics
  • Great Faces using Photoshop CS3 and CS4
  • Using Adjustment Layers in CS 3 and 4

A bit more about the women behind Pixel Fairy Princess Photography…

Debbie started Pixel Fairy Princess Photography about a year ago when she offered a session anywhere on the east coast as part of an auction to raise money for children with special needs living in an orphanage in China. Debbie grew up with a father who was a commercial photographer and has over 20 years of experience as a professional photographer. She is an awarding winning photographer with organizations like the PPA and several state professional photography associations; she has been published in 7 national and international magazines this year, and donates her time and photography talent with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. With a Master’s in non-profit, Debbie use her photography to benefit children like her daughter, who was adopted from China in June of 2006. She uses her talents and teaches workshops and online classes and donates a portion to help fund various charities in that are working to better the lives of children living in orphanages in China. In the spring of 2009, Launa joined Pixel Fairy Princess and together they launched a product line of Lightroom presets, Textures and overlays, and expanded their online class’s offerings.

Debbie and Launa have graciously offered a $100 credit towards the class of your choosing! One lucky reader will win! Take a gander at all they have to offer on their website! Now, you know the drill…

  • All you have to do to enter is leave a comment. I know you’d like another way to win, so go ahead and spread the word! Twitter, Facebook, Blog, subscribe, or become a FB Fan – whatever tickles your fancy. If you already are a fan or subscribe, just leave another comment telling me so! The catch is you must come back and leave a separate comment linking up to your shout out, or letting me know that you subscribe or are a FB ‘fan’.If you don’t leave additional comments it won’t count (easier for me this way, I’m not gonna sugar coat it).
  • The other catch is, this giveaway ENDS this evening at 10pm PST. I know it’s a short one, but I forewarned you that the giveaways were unique during the series. I’ll get ahold of the winner bright and early tomorrow morning, no waiting it out for a week to find out. Pretty great isn’t it?

So fun! I’m a big believer in that too, I’m constantly switching out the photos on my walls and printing them out for albums (which are always out at parties). Plus I do digi scrapbooking so I use them there too. :) The PFP classes look awesome – keeping my fingers crossed!

18 Krista July 10, 2009 at 9:46 am

I use a lot of the same techniques mentioned here. Though I don’t have kids, I give them as presents to my family. These classes look great. Would love to learn more.
