I find this blog post extremely insightful. As a moving military family, we learn to not hold so much onto the possessions or the surroundings but the memories. It's incredible though, that thinking back to the home where our daughter learned to crawl, where we learned to be a family... I wish I had done what you've done here. I wish I had taken pictures of the small handle that she would eventually learn to unlatch. The baby gate she mastered in a week and the house that became our home.

We learn to let go of our sentimental attachment as quickly as possible, it doesn't make it any easier. Memories are being made regardless of how much you try not to fall in love with the home we've chosen for this stop in our journey.

Thank you, this is our first home that we've bought and it's very special. It's a home, our daughter will remember. And I want to capture every special corner of this place. Despite knowing we wont always be here.

Thanks, Angie!

I've experienced the same feeling when house shopping for my two homes: as soon as I walked in I felt "this is it" - "it feels like home". The two houses are entirely different from eachother but both somehow both felt like I could live there and make it our own. I am not "in love with my home" but am certainly thankful for it. Sometimes I wish we had the money to just buy new stuff but then I realize I'd never feel as happy in a "show home". Our furniture and belongings are an eclectic mix of new & used, items from past travels, handmade quilts or pottery from friends, etc. I feel like it is creative, orderly and an honest reflection of my family. That is what I love most about our home :)
