When my husband and I bought our first home three years ago I was SO excited to make it my own. The house was empty, the carpet neutral colored, the hardwood floors newly refinished and the walls were all painted white. It was like a giant blank canvas!
I spent – literally – over a year working on it on a weekly basis until I had everything just as I wanted it. Tiled bathrooms, painted walls, put in baseboards and refinished the kitchen cabinets. It was such a labor, but I loved every second of it.
Now, that the grand scale of things is finished and now that it’s been a couple of years I’m starting to get the itch again to spruce up my living space.
So, the other night I allowed myself to get lost in the blogosphere and the inspiration I found was unreal. I thought there would be no better place to share what I found then at The Creative Mama!
Love these colored walls:
Who would have thought to hang plates in the living room?
Love how the simplicity of this framed fabric makes such a statement.
I loooooove this vintage-y wallpaper in the kitchen! Who wants to guess how many more years until wallpaper is full-fledged, back in style?
We all love the look of a brightly colored front door on the outside …

… but what about a painted door on the inside? Brilliant!
How cute would it be to hang clocks and then set the time depending on where loved ones live?
How dreamy is this laundry room? This kind of space would actually make me excited to do laundry.
Throw pillows are always a great and easy (and fairly inexpensive) way to freshen up a room. Especially ones that look this:
And, inevitably… flowers always make a space more lively, inviting and colorful.
Have you brought your home out of hibernation yet? What are some things you have done to spruce it up? We’d love to hear! If you have any pictures or posts make sure to leave their links so that we can see.
