When summer rolls around, I think of bare feet, blue water, green grass and popsicles. There is just something about popsicles that makes me feel like a kid again. And since The Creative Mama is all about ‘Simple Living’ this month, I wanted to share my five-minute homemade popsicle recipe. Because ‘simple’ to me is all about the basics. Not fussy and not fancy. And this recipe is just that.
My favorite thing about these popsicles is that you likely always have the ingredients on hand so you can whip them up in a moment’s notice. Use whatever fruit you have in the kitchen, fresh or frozen, grab some yogurt and milk. That’s it.
Combine the following in a blender:
- 1 cup of yogurt
- 1 1/2 cups of fruit
- 1/2 cup of milk
If you don’t have everything on hand or you want to make some substitutes, these work:
- If you use plain yogurt, you might add a couple tablespoons of honey for extra flavor.
- Instead of milk, you might try soy milk or juice.

Once everything is blended, pour the mix into popsicle molds, ice cube trays or paper cups. Put into the freezer and once frozen, enjoy! If you use paper cups, you’ll want to put a popsicle stick into each cup once the mix thickens.
Why don’t you take five minutes out of your day right now and pop some in the freezer for the weekend! Your family will be happy you did.
What are some of your favorite things about summer?
