This is the month of love, you know!  Here at The Creative Mama, we are celebrating all that we love and all that we hold dear, for the entire month of February.  For this next photo challenge, and quite contrary to our “black and white” post from yesterday, we actually want to see the little touches of RED around you.  In your home, in your heart, in your life.  I’ll bet if you stop and look around you, you’ll notice this beautiful shade of fire and love all around you.  So photograph it!  We would love to see through your eyes this week.

(This image was processed using the “Starlet” action from Florabella’s Luxe I set.  On my slightly underexposed photo, I simply ran the action and flattened.  No tweaking.  And yes, Lila’s shoes are on the “wrong feet”.  Shh, don’t tell her.  She was so very proud.  :) )

The rules for this Photo Challenge are as follows…

  • The primary subject must be RED (any shade of red you desire).
  • You may choose an existing image or shoot a brand new photograph for this challenge (although we love it when you take our challenges to heart and capture something brand new!)
  • Only ONE image may be uploaded to our Flickr pool for consideration.
  • Please tag your image with “TCMV5″ so that we may filter the submissions to the contest efficiently.
  • Deadline to enter is Monday, February 28 at midnight EST.  Winner will be announced on Wednesday, March 2.

Keep in mind that we look for basic things, such as good exposure, pleasing composition, and overall uniqueness and creativity from the photographer.

You’re absolutely going to adore our prize this time… a gorgeous mini-painting, valued at $115, from Flora Bowley, one of the amazing artists and teachers at The Makerie. This 5″x5″ original painting is of a very limited quantity; in fact, Flora’s mini-paintings are completely sold out online!  Lucky you.  :)

Now, a little bit about The Makerie… it is a wonderfully creative retreat being held in Boulder, CO this April, and it is designed to lovingly nurture the creative spirit in all of us.  The Makerie provides creative/crafting workshops in sewing, embroidery, knitting, painting, block printing, pattern making, photography, etc., and also offers yoga and hiking, and serves healthy, organic and local foods to you for the entire weekend.  The Makerie is a lovely weekend with no cooking, cleaning or errands… just creating and playing!  Click here, here and here to find out about Ali DeJohn and her team, and about this amazing four-day retreat!  Talk about Creative Mamas.  It sounds absolutely amazing to me, and I would love to go.

We can’t wait to see what gorgeous reds you photograph!
