The friendship-details.

The topic of friendship has been on my mind a lot lately, and we’ve had some great discussion amongst readers on the subject. Day to day life can be exhausting, whether you work or stay at home. There are appointments to be made, meetings to attend, deadlines to be met. Sometimes just getting through a busy week is enough to send any of us into a tailspin!

How you ask, are we to keep up with the the smallest details?

Today I’m referring to the friendship-details. There are just a few people in my life that I could easily tell you all about. There are others, with whom I am close to – but couldn’t tell you their favorite color, or their drink of choice from Starbucks. When one has a birthday, I may know just what to do for them – but lets be honest, sometimes I’m clueless! A few years ago I came up with this little worksheet, sent out an email asking all of my friends to fill in the questions and get back to me. I am in desperate need of updating this, and will be soon.

I wanted to share it with my readers, in case you are in the same place as me, wanting so badly to keep up with your friendship-details, but finding it difficult. It’s quite simple, print it out (as many as needed). You could pull an Ang and send an email, or maybe something more personal like a phone call, asking a bit more about your friends than you may already know. How wonderful to be able to reference this handy sheet during Christmas, birthdays, or for those out-of-the-blue moment in which you know they just might need a “coffee-break”. Just click the image above to download your free copy.

I’d love to know what you think of it,
and if you already keep track of the
friendship-details, please do share!

This is such a great idea, Angie. You may want to create an account at Scribd and start hosting your printables there as well – you’ve got some great ones!

This is so cool! I love this idea — I’m going to download it right now, and use it {soon.} I am 100% guilty of neglecting my friendships. When we DO get together, we have such a great time.

As a side note, I think I will use this at the beginning of the school year and ask my kids’ teachers to fill it out.

    Thanks for sharing this.

Ann, thanks so much for your input! Outlook is a great way to keep track of things, especially in this “digital world” – great idea! Glad to have you around! :)

Well, maybe this makes me seem super business-like, which I’m not, but I like using Microsoft Outlook to keep contact info for friends, like their name, address, phone #, email, etc. I can code which people I want to send Christmas notes to, and then there’s a section called “Notes” that is simply a big box in which I can type anything I want. That’s where I like to take note of these kinds of special details. I can print it off if I need to, or pull it up and refresh my memory if I know I’m going to see her at a party. So if her son broke his leg or she hates peanut butter, it’s right there and can be easily accessed and updated.

But it’s not at all as cute as your method. I’m so utilitarian, I neglect fun and beauty sometimes. Just wanted to toss the idea out there for people who use their computers a lot. I’m sure people with an iPhone or similar gadget would have something like that, too. I think people in sales and marketing use that all the time for clients, so that they know the name of a contact’s secretary, what flowers she likes, etc. Might as well put it to use to bless our friends! I know I feel loved when people remember little things about me (my post today is about that, and “OvercomingBusy” pointed me to you because of it!).

It really is a great idea Ang! It definitely is the little things that my friends do for me. It can be just giving me a card when I need it the most! You are the Creative Mama! LOL! Have a beautiful Wednesday!

I have been thinking a lot about friendships lately so I’ve really enjoyed all your recent posts. It’s so easy to get caught up in the busy-ness of life and neglect the people you love most….friends and family. I love this idea! I know I appreciate the little things people do for me so I’m trying to do the same for others. This little “cheat sheet” will be very helpful :)
