First off I want to thank Angie so so much for having me and these other wonderful women together in one spot! I am honored and very excited for the future of The Creative Mama. Creation is something near and dear to my heart and I look very forward to sharing what I can to all the other “creative mamas” out there.
Photography is something that is currently a major passion of mine. I live breathe, work, sleep and if I could…I would eat photography! I never stop thinking about it. Even when a camera is miles from my fingertips I am composing and envisioning images. There are plenty of times that I get too busy for these thoughts. To busy to take a moment to pick up the camera and capture something I see so clearly and wish I could immortalize. So recently I made a personal pact that I would take at least a handful of images during each session…just for me. There are plenty of times that I am sweat soaked, plum pooped from chasing a 2 year old all over a half a mile wide field in waist high meadow grass to even consider stopping to click a few extras for me, but I do. It challenges me. It keeps me thinking outside the box. Keeps my creative eye peeled for the next cool texture, architecture, color palette, or floral to add to my collection. And every time I open up the gallery to work on my clients images, I find those little treasures…and they make me smile. I have decorated my home with some, some have become note cards for clients and friends, others are being stock piled for a possible exhibition one day (girl can always dream, right?).
So I here by challenge all of you, not just the pros, but anyone with an interest or vision for photography to take the plunge. Pick up that dSLR, Point & Shoot and even those iPhones and stop and take notice of the world around you. There is so much out there that gets passed by, forgotten and are true treasures and works of art, just waiting for you to take a piece of them home with you.
And yes, I did say iPhone up above. I didn’t want anyone leaving this post thinking…sure…of course HER images look like that. She has one of those fancy cameras with all the special lenses, etc. If it were me, I would think the same thing. So I added some of my iPhone images below to prove you do not need fancy equipment.
Lets see if any of you can guess which ones are the iPhone images? The first person to guess correctly all the iPhone images shown below will get a signed and dated 8×10 of their choice of one of the images below. Be sure to post your guesses in the comments below! Then go outside and play with your cameras and even those phones!

I say 7 & 10? Beautiful pictures! I have a little sony cybershot and I am always playing with the setting to see what picture turns out best. I love taking pictures in natural light the most though. I have had a few gems turn out. On my blog I share mostly pictures of things inside my house and the lighting turns out to yellow. Now I play around with taking pictures at different times of the day to see what turns out best. It is sooo much fun!
