Tracey Clark – Shutter Sisters.

by Angie on July 15, 2009

Today I’m excited to feature Tracey Clark, canon-loving photographer and founder of Shutter Sisters. She has a heart of gold and her photography is just delicious.  I’m excited to have her share a smidge about herself and what Shutter Sisters is all about!

Photography for me started as a creative outlet, kicked-off a career and now has become an integral part of my everyday life. Literally. My camera has, through the years, become a true extension of who I am, of how I choose to view the world, of how I am driven to share my vision with the people around me. I’m a mother of 2 and I find that above all else, the daily moments of life as a mother (good and bad) are what really inspire my work.

I began musing about creating something like Shutter Sisters years ago after I dove into the web as a place to find and build community. I knew there were a lot of women like myself who not only loved photography but wanted to find other like-minded creative women to share it with. I wasn’t exactly sure how it would come together but I knew if would be something special. Today (18 months into it) it has become a place I am proud to be a part of. I am constantly inspired by the posts that the contributors share and by the high caliber of talented women that participate there. It’s really a dream come true to watch the community grow like it has. As far as the future? The sky is the limit and I only see Shutter Sisters growing and expanding. But, the most important part for me is to keep it authentic and inclusive for all women who are passionate about photography, no matter what kind of camera they have!

Head over to Shutter Sisters, get cozy, and jump on in! It is such a wonderful and inspiration place on the web. You can also find Tracey at her fabulous blog Mother May I.

Tracey was kind enough to offer one lucky reader the exclusive Shutter Sisters Flash Bulb Necklace!

300

From Shutter Sisters:  Affectionately created from collaboration between Blue Poppy Jewelry and Shutter Sisters, this exclusive flash bulb necklace is a symbol the sisterhood that is shared by women with a passion for photography. The design was inspired by the flash of a vintage camera. A hint of bilberry botanical helped to bring the tiny bulb its color. Beyond that, the circular shape of the pendant, which hangs on a delicate 18 inch bead chain also honors the feminine and mindfully represents our infinite connection to one another.

I don’t have one, but you can be certain it’s on my wish list!

I don’t know if I am posting this comment past the deadline or not. Anyway, I wanted to comment that I like the idea of shutter sisters – a community of women passionate about photography who can inspire, encourage and learn from each other. I have only recently signed up for my “pro flickr” account and am still learning all the things it can do.

Thanks for offering this beautiful necklace. I would be proud to wear it.
