Last year, I did something a little naughty when it comes to parenting…but my kids LOVED it! I served CANDY for breakfast (along with a couple of healthy things)! I thought it would be fun to surprise my kids with a special Valentine’s Day breakfast. I woke up early and made waffles for breakfast and decorated the table in pink and red. When everything was ready, we called the kids up for breakfast and boy, were they excited! It was like Christmas morning. The first thing they noticed, of course, was the candy centerpiece. They blurted out comments like “CANDY!!!” and “Bubs, we get hot cocoa!” and “Look! A sucker!” We enjoyed a sugar-overload of waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, hot cocoa with whipped cream, and orange juice, and, of course, CANDY. After breakfast my son asked me if we could keep it decorated like that forever. That made it all worth it.

Just wanted to share this idea in case you too want to get a little crazy and serve candy for breakfast also. I’m sure your children’s teachers will love you for it (mwa-ha-ha)!

P.S. I am looking forward to doing another Valentine’s Day breakfast this year. If you’d like to see how this year’s Valentine’s Day breakfast turns out, visit my blog the day after Valentine’s Day.

I absolutely love it! My mom did things like that for every holiday (the decorating, not having candy for breakfast, unfortunately! :)). This is super inspiring!

Thanks for giving me the motivation to do something fun for my little kids. I did this kind of thing for my older kids, but they aren’t interested or appreciate it – and get up way early and don’t eat breakfast. But, my younger two would love it! Hope you have a great valentines day!
