A few years back, my daughter randomly said, “I wish we could go to the dentist again.” WHAAAAAAT????
Since that was the weirdest thing I’d ever heard a 6 year old say, I asked her why she had said that. She told me that she wanted to go back to the dentist so she could pick from the treasure box. WOW! That’s all it takes to make a kid do something painful??? I was onto something!
I knew I had to get a treasure box in my house ASAP as a source of major briberyrewarding for good behavior. So I found a cute box that looked like a real treasure box and filled it with all sorts of small novelty toys and goodies. It’s the perfect place to put all those toys you get in Crappy Happy Meals! We use our treasure box to reward our children for good behavior, good grades, accomplishing a goal, or mastering a chore or task.
Treasure boxes are also FABULOUS to have if you run any sort of business that involves working with children, such as photography. You can get a kid to do just about anything if you mention that they will get to pick out of the treasure box for being a good helper.
