Your Creative Corner: Emily Lex

One of the best parts of being a blogger and living a creative life is reading blogs of other creative people.  Emily Lex of Jones Design Company submitted her Creative Space and it is nothing short of beautiful.  She made the wallpaper y’all.  Take a peak around Emily’s blog, she has some beautiful tutorials.  She also makes some seriously gorgeous stationary.

I also really love her post about time management.  I love how Emily explains how she manages her time.  It is a must read for all moms.

Do you have a space that you would like us to see?  Would you like us to feature you on The Creative Mama?  Great!  Let us know a little more about you and your space.

When you walk in the front of our home, to the right is this room.  It started as my office, then we switched it to be my husband Ryan’s office, then a sitting room and now back to my office {can you tell we’re a little fickle about decorating?}

Anyway, here is the room when we first moved into our home.

And, after hours of painting and a little fluffing, here it is now.

With a household dominated by boys {4 :: 2} I try to keep the house from becoming too feminine. And my husband is one of those with excellent taste who cares about how the house is decorated {which is a really nice way of saying we don’t always see eye to eye on how to do our house!}. So when I had the go-ahead to turn this front room into whatever I wanted it to be, I ran with that idea and made it into an office space for me to create my stationery designs, blog and keep my craft/sewing/paper/ribbon/project supplies.

I am a very visual person and I function much better when my space is pleasing to be in, so I knew I wanted the room to be light, clean and a place to inspire creativity. The walls were the first step … rather than wallpaper, I painted the pattern onto the walls {see the tutorial here}. It was time consuming, but so worth it! A simple color palette with lots of neutrals, a bit of black and a few graphic fabrics suit me just perfectly.

I spend a lot of time in this room. I love that the doors open to the rest of the house so I can still be part of the action in the house. And I love that I have a space to create!

I am a mom to three boys {6, 5, 3 and a baby girl {10 months} and wife to my college sweetheart. We are a team in raising our family and in business. I design stationery, printables, do projects for home, kids, gifts and life and blog about it all at jonesdesigncompany.com.

    I loved the Office Space article in Better Homes! I would love to pin some of the photos on Pinterest if possible. I’ve tried searching the Better Homes website for photos, but haven’t had any luck. Do you have any links I could try?

    The old door desk with IKEA legs was stunning.

    Congrats on the article!
