(Your Creative Corner is a new monthly series in which we
will tour some of the most creative spaces across the globe!)
The studio is really a work of passion. When I took ownership of the space it was important to me not to simply fill the space with “stuff”. I wanted to use elements that had meaning and character. Prior to becoming a photographer I was a high school history teacher and developed quite an appreciation for salvaged furniture and other decor. So I went on a hunt for interesting pieces I could use in my studio that were salvaged locally. The turquoise chairs at my desk are from a 1940′s supper club, the curtains on my display wall were salvaged from an old movie theater built in the 1930′s, and the colorful doors in my shooting space came from old farm houses in the area. It was quite a process pulling the studio together (it took a little over 6 months), but to me it was worth the effort!
Jamie Schultz was raised in a very small town in Nebraska where her passion for all things creative developed. Her grandmother owned a charming flower shop and she spent countless hours watching her design works of art right before her eyes. As a child, she dabbled in art but didn’t find her niche until she picked up a camera. At that point it was evident that photography would serve as Jamie’s creative outlet.
A childhood dream was realized when she opened a studio loft in the quaint downtown area of Hudson, Wisconsin. Inspired by the charming details in her own grandmother’s shop, Jamie’s boutique style studio offers the capability for unique custom photography. With that came a client base who came to expect a wide array of products to preserve and showcase the images from their session. As her photography business grew so did the number of inquiries from other photographers interested in purchasing her design templates for use in their own businesses.
Thus, Jamie Schultz Designs was born.
